Waiting in London

Living in a Hostel was about as un-glamorous as it sounds. But here are some of the good things we had going during the two week hostel stint.

We haven’t seen the Changing of the Guard yet.

Home Sweet Home…finally

We finally found a flat!!! It is in the Bayswater, London area about three blocks from Hyde Park. It was lacking a few home touches in things like bedding, rugs, towels, and bowls. So Dane, Alison and I took a train then shuttle bus to Ikea. When we finished shopping we had four very full Ikea bags to cart home. It was hard not to laugh as we all piled our new belongings on a mini bus then tried to fit them through the gates at the train station. It was all well worth the trek for the finishing touches on our new flat!

Our bedroom, the wardrobe is on the other side of Danes desk.

The bathroom is bigger than it looks…sort of.

The kitchen, dinning area and front room are all open to each other, which I love.

Yesterday was Dane’s birthday so we ordered some take-away Indian food  (so so so delicious!) and bought an absolutely fantastic cake from a patisserie (SP?). On Saturday we are going to the Broadway show of Les Miserable.

Just a Heads Up

Welcome to my view of London!

I do not care if you skip over all the words to the pictures I know that is what I usually end up doing. I do not know how to work this site and this blog will probably not be artsy fartsy and I don't want to come off sounding preachy. I just want a way, other than facebook, to share photos and some of my thoughts about the city Dane, Alison (our cousin) and I will be living for the next 13 months. I will try to keep to the good stuff and not be excessively boring.
Week 1 (almost one week)
This week has mostly consisted of sleeping in to adjust to our new sleep schedule, flat hunting, and enviously looking in at the many many thai and indian food restaurants London has to offer, so far we have been eating protien bars and pb&j sandwhiches (although last night we did splurge 4 pounds for a little container of cheese and package of 61% turkey --it was really salty, probably to cover up the taste of shame). However! we did do a bit of touristy stuff today, which inspired me to start the London blog.  Here are some pictures from our little venture.
